January 31 - National Environment Day - Ambiente e Boas Praticas
National Environment Day is celebrated on January 31, because it was on this date that ended the 1st Week of Nature Conservation (January 26, 1976), held in Luanda, with the participation of representatives of invited delegations from Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique and Sao Tome and Principe.
To mark the ephemeris, the Ministry of Environment, in partnership with environmental associations and other partners, make a series of activities.
These activities aim to draw attention to political and social sectors about the need to adopt sustainable measures and standards of life that promote a balanced management of natural resources and improve the quality of life of population. Taking into account the need to improve the quality of the environment and thus the quality of life of populations, on this date people are encouraged to think about the environment in all its components.
Therefore, it is necessary to approach and critically reflect on political problems (violation of human rights, lack of or inadequate legislation, wars, etc.), social problems (food security, population growth, lack of urbanization in cities, etc. .), economic (excessive exploitation of natural resources, unemployment, poverty, etc.) that cause negative effects on the biophysical (natural) component of the environment and on the quality of life of human beings.
