The governor of Namíbe, Archer Mangueira, began a working visit this week of four days, in Cape Verde, to gather experiences in the tourism sector and establish partnerships that can leverage this segment in the province.

In an interview with Rádio Namíbe, via telephone, the governor said that the visit serves to essentially gain more knowledge and experiences of a country that has a tradition and vocation in the development of tourism, being the main source of income for Cabo Green.

Archer Mangueira recognized that Cape Verde already has a long way to go in the tourism sector, a fact that motivates Namibe to seek experience of this country, so that the province becomes an anchor of tourist development in Angola.

Therefore, the governor hopes to gather many experiences from this Portuguese-speaking country, with emphasis on the desalination process that is carried out in tourist areas located on some Cape Verde islands, which could be implemented locally with a project already existing from Japan and Spain, with only the beginning of its implementation missing.

“We also have a serious problem with water and the aquifers are practically low, being the only source we have now it has been groundwater, which forces us to think about long and medium term alternatives”, he highlighted.

Archer Mangueira, who is accompanied by the director of the provincial Tourism office in Namíbe, Pedro Hangula, has already maintained courtesy meeting with the Prime Minister of Cape Verde, Ulisses Correria e Silva, and the Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Business Development Finance and Minister of Digital Economy, Olavo Correia.

On this journey, the Angolan government official visited Sal Island, where he completed an agenda that prioritized a meeting with the president of Sal City Council, visit to the tourist attractions of Salinas Island, Águas de Ponta Preta company and infrastructure hotels on the island.

The province of Namíbe has natural beauty that has attracted tourists from different parts of the world, who visit areas such as beaches, Serra da Leba, the Montipa thermal waters, as well as the oldest desert in the world, the dunes and other places.

Those who most frequent Namibe's tourist areas have been Namibians, South Africans, Portuguese, Cubans, Vietnamese, Koreans, Brazilians, Chinese, Australians and other nationalities. FA/QCB
