As part of the celebrations of the Namibe Sea Festival 2026, the Angolan Federation of Nautical Sports (FADEN) was present with an ambitious program covering four disciplines: Rowing, Sailing, Canoeing, and Surfing.
The official start of the sporting event was given to Canoeing. With the presence and starting signal given by the Governor of Namibe Province, Archer Mangueira, the athletes competed in three speed events, namely C1-500 meters, K1-500 meters, and K1-200 meters.
The initiative, which has direct support from the Provincial Government, aims not only at competition but also at enhancing the value of the sea as a driver of tourism and sports development in the region.
In addition to canoeing, the program offered a diverse agenda for the public and practitioners.
Sailing, in the Optimist class, as well as Rowing with events in the demanding Beach Sprint discipline, and Surfing with introductory sessions focused on attracting new talents, were also featured on the “stage.”
The presence in Namibe also serves as a demonstration of the strength of nautical sports in the country.
The governing bodies of FADEN, technical coordinators, and representatives of all active nautical clubs were present.
In addition to the four aforementioned disciplines, Swimming was also included, with the National Open Water Championship.
“For the first time, we are integrating these two aspects, which also marks the beginning of a more robust program for the mass development of these disciplines. We have not only the natural potential but, above all, the human potential, with many young people whom we want to see, in the future, in high-level competition,” emphasized the Governor of Namibe, Archer Mangueira.
