Cruise ships reinforce the role of the Port of Namibe in promoting maritime tourism in the region
Last Friday, April 3, the Port of Namibe saw the docking of the SH Diana cruise ship at the new container terminal, reinforcing its strategic role in boosting maritime tourism in Angola.

The vessel, arriving from South Africa, carried a total of 166 passengers, including tourists and crew members of various nationalities, with emphasis on Americans, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Portuguese.
The Head of the Inspection and Operations Department of the Port of Namibe, Idalésio Simão, stated that this is the first cruise ship to dock at the port this year, with new stopovers already expected in the coming days, a fact he considers a historic milestone not only for the province but also for the Southern African region, reinforcing Namibe’s positioning as a growing tourist destination.

The official also highlighted that, although the port does not yet have a specific quay for cruise ships, the adaptation of the container terminal has made it possible to receive these vessels, contributing to the promotion of port infrastructure and the attraction of investors, considering that many of the tourists are also businesspeople interested in exploring opportunities in the country.
The arrival of SH Diana confirms the growth of cruise tourism in Namibe and reinforces the commitment to modernizing port infrastructure, aligned with the national strategy for economic diversification and the promotion of Angola as a reference tourist destination.
