The infrastructure works are part of the Moçâmedes Bay requalification project, recently announced by the provincial governor, Archer Mangueira, in a consultation meeting with cultural agents distributed across different disciplines artistic.
The meeting was part of the program commemorating the 50th anniversary of national independence, on November 11th and the National Culture Day, celebrated on January 8th.
The government official stressed that the project will be carried out in two phases, the first of which will allow the aforementioned work to be completed. pending since colonial times in the current year (2025) and the second, which consists of the expansion of the other, in 2026/2027.
Prepared to receive 400 spectators, the Cine-Estúdio began to be built in January 1974 and includes a restaurant and a commercial area.
For his part, governor Archer Mangueira advised the artistic class to take better advantage of the spaces already built, for the massification of different artistic disciplines. Regarding the current state of the cave paintings at Tchitundo-Hulo, the governor reported that “significant steps” had already been taken with UNESCO to elevate this archaeological site to a world heritage site.
"Tchitundo-Hulo is within our government agenda, our objective is to transform it into a world heritage site.
Now is in the Government's program, the process of registering it with UNESCO is now underway", he assured.
On the occasion, the governor appealed to artists for unity, creativity and resilience, remembering that the cultural industry generates income for families.
He reiterated the Government's interest in continuing to support initiatives that contribute to the promotion, promotion, preservation and appreciation of culture.
He stressed that the patronage law is a recommended way to encourage the business class to invest in the cultural industry.
