In statements to ANGOP, the official informed that the province has 251 support units for tourist activities, 38 of which restaurants, three hotels, seven guesthouses, eight tourist villages, six travel and tourism agencies and 23 guesthouses.
Pedro Hangula made it known that the inauguration of the Hotel Moçâmedes is scheduled for this year, the reopening of the Camping Park, in the first semester, as well as the entry into operation of a new Risort.
He added that the province has cataloged 167 tourist guides, 54 of which are registered and legalized.
“The number of legalized guides is insufficient, causing some disruption in the promotion of tourism due to the avalanche of requests for guides that the province receives, especially on weekends and long weekends”, he added.
The person in charge also added that 31 Cultural Tourism guides were trained in 2024, and more than 70 guides received training specialized technician will benefit from the same training this year.
Ten thousand and 30 national and foreign tourists visited the province of Namibe in 2024, compared to eight thousand and 766 in 2023.
The areas most visited by tourists, mostly South Africans, Namibians and Portuguese, were the Namíbe desert, the Hills, the Lagoa do Arco, the Lona National Park, the beaches of Soba and Mariquitas and the natural pools of Piambo.VR/FA/ASS
