Moçâmedes is a city and municipality in the province of Namibe.
During the years 1985 to 2016, the city had the same name as the province (Namibe).
With a population of approximately 335,892 inhabitants according to the National Statistics Institute (2018), and a territorial area of 8,916 km2.
Being the most populous municipality in the province, its name comes from the General of Angola and Barão de Moçâmedes, at the time with a different spelling than the current one (Mossamedes). Its foundation was on August 4, 1849, the date on which its inhabitants celebrate the city's anniversary every year.
Characterized by a strong potential in the fishing, agricultural and ornamental stone industry sectors, it also has unique places considered true works of art sculpted by nature.

Cine Estudio Namibe - In 1973, the owners of Cine-Moçâmedes, Mr. Bauleth, Eurico and Gaspar, commissioned Atelier Boper to design a new cinema building for the city.
Cine Teatro Moçâmedes - Benefiting from a privileged situation, almost in the middle of Rua da Praia do Bonfim, overlooking the Avenue, in a place where in the 1940s there was a small garden square called Jardim da Colónia.
Foz do Rio Giraul - The Giraul River (Giraúl) is a watercourse in Angola that is part of the Atlantic slope.
The Giraul rises in Serra da Chela and crosses the entire arid (desert) area of the Namibe province, all the way to the Atlantic Ocean, emptying north of the city of Moçâmedes, in Baía das Pipas.
Santo Adrião Church -The Parish Church of Santo Adrião de Moçâmedes began to be built on July 27, 1849. By Provincial Instructions, dated March 30 of that year, issued by Governor General Acácio Adrião da Silveira Pinto
Palácio de Moçâmedes - < /strong>Sober and imposing, with classical architecture typically from the 19th century, the Palace boasts a facade divided into three bodies, with the central body topped by a triangular pediment, in the middle of which were the Portuguese corners
Praia do Baba -< /strong> Located 65 km north of Moçâmedes, a town estimated at 1500 inhabitants, which lives off fishing, Praia do Baba has natural charms with paradisiacal beaches and a Private Tourist Complex of Excellence.
